Tabuk and Surrounding Sites
Numerous historical monuments are found in Tabuk such as the Prophet’s Mosque and Tabuk Castle, in addition to Hajj route pools. The historical area also houses a souk displaying Bedouin tools and other products. To the north of Tabuk sits the Islamic Al Hajj Castle and to the west of Tabuk, picturesque beaches connect to the city via a network of modern roadways.
Museum of Antiquities and Traditional Heritage
This is an integrated center specializing in archaeological studies and research, and it includes a laboratory for the restoration of paintings, photogrammetry (the process of making surveys and maps using photographs), a lecture hall and an area for antiquities. Precious antiquities and heritage materials are presented here in a scientific manner. Presentations begin with an introduction to geology, past conditions of Saudi Arabia, the pre-Islamic era, Islamic time and the current periods.
Jabal Al-Lawz a mountain
What you see is a fairy tale here. The plants are white… the rocks are white… the top of the mountain is also white. Don’t be surprised, this is because you are in Jabal Al-Lawz, a mountain in Saudi Arabia that opens its summit and slopes to snow in winters. The residents of this mountain surprise their visitors with their feelings of warmth of happiness, when they meet.
Jabal Al-Lawz is one of the most famous mountains in the Tabuk Province. It is about 2785 meters above sea level, and it is distinguished for its multicolored rock formations. The mountain is much visited for camping where the almond trees grow in the wild in its eastern parts. During the winter, snow accumulates generously on its summit and slopes, giving it a resplendent look. In addition, Jabal Al-Lawz has a plenty of ancient inscriptions and drawings on the rocks that overlook settlements dating back to pre-Islamic periods.
Jabal Al-Lawz mount is within the easy reach of a number of tourist sites in Tabuk Province being situated at a distance of only about 80 kilometers from the famous Haql beaches and about 50 kilometers from Alqan heritage village near Al-Thahar area, which also experiences snowfall in winter. The surrounding area of Jabal Al-Lawz has many valleys with rich vegetation and pastoral areas, which constitute beautiful picnic areas throughout the year.
